Like Minds: Collaboration Over Competition in Healthcare
At Adjust NRV, we believe in the power of collaboration over competition. That philosophy was at the heart of our recent "Like Minds" event, where healthcare providers from across the New River Valley (NRV) gathered to embrace a "same team" mindset. Inspired by Simon Sinek’s book The Infinite Game, we recognize that healthcare isn’t a competition with winners and losers—it’s an ongoing journey where the best results come from working together.
Our event brought together chiropractors, naturopathic physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, massage therapists, yoga instructors, fitness professionals, functional medicine, life coaches, and mental health professionals. Each of these experts plays a unique role in patient care, and by fostering a community-team approach, we enhance outcomes for everyone we serve.
The Power of a Multi-Disciplinary Approach
Healthcare should never exist in silos. Every patient is unique, and their path to better health often requires expertise from multiple disciplines. When we recognize that different specialties bring different strengths, we can provide comprehensive, well-rounded care. A chiropractor may improve function, a physical therapist may enhance mobility, a massage therapist may relieve tension, and a mental health professional may help patients manage stress and emotional well-being. The Olympic Approach
While working with Olympic Athletes in Colorado Springs, Dr. Logan Brooke noted that every athlete saw every provider for their care. “It was a complete collaborative approach where egos were replaced with expertise. The athletes truly benefited from this approach,” he shared.
The Like Minds event reinforced the idea that we all serve the same mission: improving the health and well-being of our community. By shifting away from competition and embracing collaboration, we create a support system not only for our patients but also for each other as providers. It’s about sharing knowledge, referring when necessary, and always putting the patient’s best interest first.
