Meeting Liz Kitely

There’s nothing like watching a riveting game of basketball! I love the sport and how quickly the dynamic of the game can change. One moment, a team may be up, and the next, they are racing to catch up from behind. It is fast, fun, and such a great spectator sport! Even better if the team I’m watching is the Virginia Tech Women’s basketball team!

My wife and I have been faithful fans for years. We are fixtures in Cassell Coliseum. We’ve watched more games than I can count and see a variety of players come and go. There is something strikingly special about one recent player, Liz Kitley. She has tenacity and a hunger for the sport but also often looks calm and collected. Alongside her incredible teammates, Kitley has made recent basketball seasons nothing short of epic.

Clearly, I realized, Kitley is living her best life as she plays basketball. Which means, I decided to work up the courage to connect with her. At the year end celebration in 2023 for the VT women’s basketball program I connected with her and asked if she was looking for sponsors for her podcast, Queens of Cassell.  She said, sure call my agent.  Totally kidding!  She was genuinely interested in working together and her response was from a humble posture.  She gave me her cell and said call me and we can set up a time to chat.  Well that sponsorship blossomed into Liz becoming Adjust NRV’s first ever Influencer. Friends: We have officially arrived, haha!

We set up a time to collaborate on our vision for the sponsorship and we arranged for a few social media posts to be filmed then too.  I’m not afraid to admit that I prepared a lot for our meeting.  If you haven’t seen the 15 second video, they are on our facebook page and I absolutely love how they turned out.

She was gracious and so fun.  I couldn’t believe that she liked my quirky attempt at an SNL inspired skit.  I was totally fan-girling.  But she totally went along with it and she absolutely nailed it.  It was so fun!  We did a couple more and then she signed some autographs that we have given to patients who also love her.  It made me so incredibly happy to give my special friends something that they will cherish.

And now that Liz has been drafted into the WNBA, we couldn’t be more excited for her! It is genuinely exciting to see a good person, doing good work, and receiving the rewards of all that effort. She inspires ME to continue pursuing my best life with passion and enthusiasm - and I hope Liz Kitley does the same for you.
